OET Curriculum
The OET exam preparation course by Academically follows a streamlined curriculum that helps you address the competence demands of each section of the OET exam. Through interactive learning and online workshops, our course instils in you expertise pertaining to the different aspects of English such as reading, speaking, writing etc. The OET (Occupational English Test) exam consists of four sub-tests that assess your English language proficiency within the context of healthcare communication. The four sub-tests are mentioned below.

Listening Sub-Test
In this section, you listen to a variety of healthcare-related audio recordings and answer questions based on what you hear. The duration of this test is approximately 45 minutes. The test includes a variety of healthcare scenarios, such as doctor-patient interactions, nurse-patient conversations, and healthcare professional presentations.

Reading Sub-Test
In this section, you need to read and answer questions based on healthcare-related texts, such as articles, extracts from manuals, and patient information. This section lasts for around 60 minutes and covers various topics that are related to different professions, allowing you to demonstrate your understanding of diverse healthcare contexts.

Writing Sub-Test
In this section, you complete profession-specific writing tasks based on case notes and information provided. This may involve writing referral letters, discharge letters, or case notes. The approximate duration of this section is 45 minutes. Here, you will be given task-specific information to guide your writing. Your ability to organize information, use appropriate language, and convey key details effectively is assessed.

Speaking Sub-Test
This is a face-to-face interaction with an interlocutor. You will participate in role-plays that simulate real-life healthcare scenarios. The speaking section is of around 20 minutes, and in this section, you will have a series of role-plays where you take on the role of a healthcare professional while the interlocutor acts as a patient or another healthcare provider. This assesses your ability to communicate effectively, show empathy, and provide clear explanations.
